πŸ“– A New Chapter Begins

Happy Monday, Reader

Wow – a lot of you were fascinated by my trip recaps from last week's email. Thank you so much for reading, because that's helpful feedback for me that those trip recaps are actually worth writing! (If you didn't know, you can find them in the menu on my page by hovering over Alaska > My Recent Trips.)

As I've alluded to a few times in the past year, there are some big forces happening behind the scenes for me as your friendly neighborhood travel blogger. Google has changed a lot – maybe you've noticed too! – and it's a lot harder to get traffic to my site from people who are searching there.

That's part of why I've been hanging out so much on Facebook. I really enjoy being on Facebook because I feel like – similar to these emails – we can really connect and chat there, human to human, no AI involved!

But I've actually made another big change recently which I hope you can appreciate less as a "money grab" and more as a "I want to keep doing this to help you travel and I'm trying to find financially sustainable ways to do that."

All this to say, I now have a limit on the number of free articles you can read on my site. After ~5 articles, you'll encounter a "wall" which asks you to do one of three things:

  1. Register with your email (for free) to keep reading
  2. Pay $5/mo or $50 for lifetime access to all of my articles – completely ad-free.

Having ads is something I've never loved, but showing ads kept the lights on, so to speak, and I tried to find a balance of how many ads to show compared with the money I needed to support my family and keep traveling (as you saw from my cruise cost report, I pay for a lot of it myself!).

Now, there's a way for you to get rid of them!

Additionally, if you buy lifetime access, you'll get a coupon code for a free Alaska Itinerary Planning Pack, so you future Alaska travelers get an extra benefit there!

You can wait until you hit the "wall" to register for whichever plan you prefer, or if you want to get ahead of the curve and take care of it now, here's where you can do that. As I mentioned, you do not have to pay to keep reading – you just have to register with your email. (Since you're already on my email list, you won't even be getting any new emails.)

I will never get rid of a free option for my readers, because I know not everyone has the means to pay for the information on my site. (That's why you'll keep seeing ads – the advertisers pay me instead!).

I really appreciate how much you have all stuck with me so far, and trusted me to help you plan amazing trips in Alaska and beyond. I hope to continue doing that for many more years to come (and having this paid/ad-free option is part of that plan).

I'll be back next week with more travel, business, or life news – maybe all three!

Until then, ✌️❀️✈️,
